Grounding, also called earthing, means making conductive contact with the earth. Walking barefoot on natural surfaces such as soil, grass or sand is one of the simplest examples. Stepps was created around a simple idea: what if you didn't have to take your shoes off?
Stepps footwear contains conductive components that create a pathway through the shoe. When you're standing or walking on a compatible conductive surface, that construction is designed to maintain electrical contact between your foot and the ground beneath you.
You absolutely can. But barefoot isn't always practical. Pavement, stones, temperature, work, travel and everyday life can all get in the way. Stepps gives you a way to wear normal footwear while still using a shoe specifically designed for ground contact on suitable surfaces.
That's exactly what we wanted to change. Many grounding shoes have the unmistakable look of technical or barefoot footwear. Stepps combines grounding construction with an everyday sneaker design you can actually style normally.
Yes. That is the point. Wear them for everyday walks, weekends, travelling or simply as your daily sneakers. You don't need to be on a conductive surface every second you're wearing them.
Grounding requires a conductive connection to the earth. Natural surfaces such as soil, grass and sand are the clearest examples. Other surfaces vary depending on their materials and construction. Insulating surfaces may interrupt the connection.
Socks can influence conductivity depending on their material, thickness and moisture level. Bare skin gives the most direct contact with the conductive components inside the shoe. Conductive socks are another option if you prefer wearing socks.
No. Barefoot shoes focus primarily on natural foot movement. Grounding footwear adds another element: a conductive pathway through the shoe. Stepps combines natural-movement features with grounding construction in a more familiar sneaker design.
The electrical principle of connecting a conductive object to the earth is well established. Research has also explored grounding in relation to the human body, but evidence for specific health outcomes is still limited and developing. Stepps is not sold as a medical treatment and we don't promise specific health results.
